Spring Break trip to Duke Lemur Center!

Greeting Fellow Primates!

My name is Amanda Rodriguez and I am a Hunter College ABC master’s student in Dr. Baden’s PMEL.

Last week, I was lucky enough to visit the Duke Lemur Center as a field prep for my thesis research I’m planning to conduct at the Reniala Lemur Rescue Center in Madagascar. This research will investigate the effects of feeding enrichments on the behavioral rehabilitation of ex-pet ring-tailed lemurs (Lemur catta). DLC gave me the opportunity to expand my knowledge and skills of identifying L. catta behaviors via behavioral observations. Additionally, I gained a better understanding of how the DLC create and implement their enrichments for their lemurs by shadowing an animal care technician. I would like to thank DLC for welcoming me with open arms and assisting me in my journey to better enrich the lives of these ex-pet L. catta.
